So I am sitting here thinking about all the feedback I have received regarding the blog and I guess the inception of Sapphire. Some good, some bad, and some just have nothing to say at all. I am amazed that most of the excitement has come from my younger sisters. I don't know why I am so surprised by it, I guess with youth comes zeal. But that zeal comes another level of accountibility for me (Adrienne). If you are with me then you know that I am going to Titus.
Paul admonishes us (the older women) to be reverant in behavior---- teachers of good things. Because of the nature and season of my leadership, I must examine and begin by asking myself, "what good thing am I teaching?" I have really taken the time to see where we are, what we are doing, where we are going, and how we are going to get there. (all in the weeks since our girls night out). I discovered some things about myself and about us that I didn't know. Ya'll we got issues. I have learned that there are 4 things that hinder us from becoming healthy and effective leaders: unresolved issues, unhealed hurts, unmet needs, and unrealisitic desires. If we are unable to effectively deal with these things, are we able to be the "teachers" that God has required? Never fear my dears! We shall and we will deal. In the weeks to come I pray that we will all begin to examine ourselves to see what is hindering us individually and collectively and when we come together (March 20-March22) we can begin to deal.

More than just a girls night....

Okay ladies...In my sociology class we had a dicussion about women rights and it spiraled out of control lol Did you know that in Saudi Arabia it is ILLEGAL for a women to have a driver liscense or walk around without a male escort, they can't vote, they have no voice. In India baby girls who are born to a family that has more than one daughter already they are murdered and not by the government but by their parents. This is because females are more expensive especailly to a poor family, to find her a husband. So they rather kill the baby girls. Did you know that in several countries in Africa women are circumcised, this is to prevent them from having sex before marraige and when its time for them to get married they get the stiches removed. Many times females die during this surgery, and it is not uncommon for the surgery to take place with no medication. And if things couldn't get worse they peform this on females as early as..THREE YEARS OLD. Imgaine all these precious jewels dying each day. Also, out of all of the countries in the world guess what the US ranked for women tolerance..23!! That is disturbing, that in the land of the free women are still oppressed. The United States should be top 10. In the United States women only earn 70% of what men earn for doing the same job. I just wanted to share this with you all so when we are in our prayer time we cry out for all the jewels in the world who are being oppressed. And remeber that this ministry (sapphire) is bigger than just us hanging out...Thoughts anyone??

Welcome!!

Well, I guess I am finally commiting myself to this. Sapphire Young Womens Ministry. It has been nearly 8 years that I have tried run from this! (This ya'll) Who am I to lead these women? Where is it that I am leading them to? What do I have to give? These are the questions I have asked myself for far too long. I won't even pretend that I have all the answers, I don't yet have the answers to these questions but, I hear the Lord calling and who am I to say no? I am but a vessel willing to be used and grateful that God has seen fit to choose me for this task.
What more precious a gift hath God given humanity but the woman? For He looked at Himself and said it is not good that man should be alone and he gave him you, me, us. How special is that?
All else withstanding, it truly is my desire that we, The ladies of VIGOR be united in mind, speech, heart, and love. I pray that you will all use this tool as a means of us ministering to one another. Let me know what you think!
